Tororo Tourism

Tororo is a town located in southeastern Uganda, near the border with Kenya. It is the main municipal, administrative, and commercial centre of Tororo District. The town is situated approximately 230 kilometres (143 miles) east of Kampala, the capital city of Uganda.

Things to do in Tororo

Tororo Rock: Tororo Rock is a prominent landmark in the town, offering beautiful panoramic views of the surrounding area. Busitema Forest: Located 24 kilometres (15 miles) from Tororo. Busitema Forest is one of the less explored rain forests in Uganda. If you are a nature lover you will love Busitema Forest, Uganda Safari tours offers bird watching, and nature walk tours and you will most likely see monkeys; Busitema forest is home to a large number of Olive baboons and other species such as Vervet monkeys, black and white Colobus monkeys. Explore the Town Centre: Visit local markets, shops, and eateries while strolling around Tororo’s town centre. You can take part in the bustling atmosphere, chat with the welcoming locals, and sample some authentic Ugandan food. Try a Rolex! Malaba Border Market: This bustling market, located near the Kenya-Uganda border, offers various goods, including fresh produce, crafts, clothing, and household items

Nyero Rock Paintings: Located about 40 kilometres (25 miles) from Tororo, the Nyero Rock Paintings are a fascinating archaeological site. These ancient rock art paintings date back to the Iron Age and depict various human and animal figures

Tororo Cement Factory: A trip to the Tororo Cement Factory might be educational for anyone with an interest in industrial history. One of Uganda’s largest cement production plants, the factory may offer guided tours so visitors can learn more about the process of making cement

Visit the Catholic Cathedral: The Tororo Catholic Cathedral, also called Our Lady of Africa, is a beautiful building well worth visiting. The cathedral is a calm place to reflect because of its distinctive style and serene ambience

Tororo Railway Station: One of Tororo’s famous landmarks for history enthusiasts is the railway station. Despite the station not being used at the moment, many visitors come to see its historical significance and its beautiful surroundings

Swimming Pool: If you need to take a quick dip to get out of the beaming African sun, the best place to do is the Rock Classic Hotel. You can get a drink and sit by the pool while you perfect your summer tan

Tororo Golf Course: A highly recommended location has a length of 2.8km. There are 18 holes with no water but plenty of trees and bunkers. After playing return to the clubhouse for a well deserved drink
